A old favorite

As a vintage seller I constantly try to purge my wardrobe of things I no longer wear. Months ago, I shoved this 1940s rayon beauty into a bag with the intent to sell. I haven't worn it in a while and thought it deserved to be loved by someone who didn't think it old hat. However the moment I put it on again, I knew I would never part with it. It was the first 1940s dress I ever owned and has fit me like a dream ever since I received it as a birthday present at the age of 17 and twirled around my room singing "I feel like Ginger Rogers!"

Without further ado, one of the top five wackiest prints in my closet (and that's saying something), the lollypop tree dress! The print literally looks like blue + purple trees bearing spiral shaped lollypops.

2016

We moved to Edmonds. Both the blanket and the pennant are from estate sales. My bed is the only clean and tidy part of my new room. I have vintage clothing and patterns for the shop in bags all over my room.

So long, farewell

I have started a vintage shop to sell the things I never wear or have outgrown. Here are all of the things I have sent off to new owners. The places I have shipped clothing to include Norway, Canada, New York City, and Illinois. Far more of the world than I've seen myself!
Purchase my other equally old + beautiful things at Shop Trillium.

Can you tell this is my all time favorite dress? I was heartbroken to have outgrown it! I blame my weight gain on a) desserts and b) this horrible endless rain we've been having. Who wants to go for a walk when its dumping rain and also too windy for an umbrella?

The Varsity Drag

On a day sometime in February Amelia and I went to the U-District. We were browsing as usual, visiting all of the vintage stores. I never find anything there because I love (and purchase) mostly pre-1950s garments. At the first store we went into, Valley of Roses, I found a late 1930s dress with embroidery. It was two inches too small in the waist but I tried it on anyway and it fit!
The shop owner, Mary wanted to take mine and Amelia's photo for the store's Facebook. What she took resulted in some of the best photos of me and Amelia together that anyone's ever taken.

The coolest dress ever

A few Saturdays ago, I went to a really excellent garage sale. It was in the Central District and was ran by a lady who clearly knew her stuff. It was an all vintage sale and the prices were reasonable (but not cheap). I bought this dress and wore it yesterday. I was complimented so much on it that I decided I needed to properly document it for the world/internet.
And here it is! Amelia took the pictures while we were in Ballard. She has excellent eye for color. Look at how perfectly the surroundings match the red and blue in the dress and socks.

Making time

For the past two weeks I have worked almost every single day. Right now I'm off but none of my friends or family are off so it's pretty dull. The most fun I've had in a while was going to the Museum of History and Industry. The current (very tiny) exhibition is on Greek restaurants, but the real reason to come is for the permanent exhibitions that cover the history of Seattle from when it was a Native American town called Du Wamps, through white settlement, through both World's Fairs and World Wars, and up to present day. My favorite parts were the Gold Rush exhibit, the Great Depression, and World War II rooms.
The outside of the museum is really neat as well so I had my picture taken there. The sun was in my eyes so I'm squinting in most of these (oops!).

That's the way

The first post of 2015 is actually some pictures I never got around to posting in December. Taken after a good chunk of my family had seen the last movie in the Hobbit series, this photo series/outfit post is remarkable in that I am smiling in at least one of the photos. It's so much easier to have your photo taken if someone else is in it too.
(My uncle decided to photo bomb. My mother took all of the photographs.)

Dress: 1920s, estate sale
Sweater: thrifted
Tote: Shakespeare and Co.
Belt + necklace: vintage
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

(This is my "What the hell are you doing? Please get out of my picture" face.)

(And this me when I'm amused. If only you could hear my laugh. It has been described as sounding like how a dolphin would laugh.)

Beyond the keep

These pictures were taken a few days ago in Fremont(a neighborhood in Seattle). Our car broke down, so we decided to salvage the rest of our day and bus to the Fremont Sunday Market. It was the best time I've ever had at the market. I saw treasures like locally made silk blouses, hummus, 1910s lace, and perfect fitting vintage denim jackets (I may have to go back for that one next week). The weather was my favorite type, sunny but with crisp cold fall air.

I'm wearing battered 1940s jeans I got from eBay, a silk scarf I found at an estate sale yesterday in Ballard, and a 1950s cashmere monogrammed cardigan from Atlas Clothing (that I found today). This is one of my favorite outfits I have ever worn because it is so comfortable. I can literally not stop wearing these jeans. I feel like a rebellious 1950s teenager in them. How did I go so long without trying vintage denim?

Schloss Lembeck.

One of my uncles (one I am not very close to, who lives in Germany) got married in a castle. Well technically it's just a rather fancy manor house. Either way it was a gorgeous place with beautiful grounds and a moat. It was not nearly as glamorous and over the top as I thought a castle wedding would be. It was just in a room on the ground floor of the castle. We had to get in and out pretty quickly and got no real tour of the castle. The wedding party had champagne and orange juice on the grounds of the castle after the ceremony. That was easily the best part.

I wore a 20s dress from a nearby estate sale a year ago, clogs from Lotta from Stockholm, and a rather ratty 50s sweater from the Goodwill that I've worn to death. And a star barrette from Giant Dwarf. I wore a 1920s teddy as a slip because I forgot to pack one.

Pixelated

By the time you've started reading this I will leaving for Europe: going to a wedding in a castle, Paris, and London. Shopping at vintage and thrift stores everywhere I go. Living the dream basically. There will be loads of pictures when I get back on September first. I'm extremely nervous/excited.
On to clothing... I thrifted this Zara dress a couple of weeks ago. I'm completely in love with it. It's a hundred percent silk, the lightest I've ever worn. Not that it has stopped me from sweating in this horrendous heat wave we've been having. The clogs are Lotta from Stockholm. You'll be seeing a lot of them here. I own very few pairs of shoes.
Anyway, wish me luck! See you on the flip side and all that.

Bound to pack it up

These pictures were taken at the preschool by my house. The evening sun caused these photographs to be overexposed, but I kinda like it.
I'm wearing a thrifted shirt and 90s skirt. My clogs are by Lotta from Stockholm.
I originally bought Swedish Hasbeens and they were hideously uncomfortable. If you have wide or medium width feet I think Lottas are a much better bet. I'm sorry if this is a little dull, but when I was looking for clogs this would've been such useful info to know. I hope this post will help at least one person.

Sometimes

It is worth posting something just because you like your outfit in the pictures, even if the pictures themselves could be more flattering.

Back story: Amelia and I had just gone to Pike Place Market. She had bought some raspberries as a snack and we were eating them. For some reason or another she took my picture.

My blouse is handmade using a pattern from the 1910s and lace from the early 1930s. My jumper is from the 90s. My purse, which I carry everywhere (because it is the perfect size and weight for me to pretend I'm not wearing a purse) is from a church sale. My army jacket is from the antique store in Pike Place.
